Swift Water & Flood Training Facility

Oriskany, New York

MJ was responsible for the design of a swift water and flood training facility at the NYS Preparedness Training Center (SPTC). The finished project is used for first responder training in swift moving water scenarios such as in flooded creeks or rivers, in flooded urban scenarios such as in city flooding, and in scenarios of open water, such as lakes or ponds.

MJ designed several aspects of the larger project that transformed the Oneida County Airport into the SPTC - a multidiscipline complex operated by the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES). The SPTC affords state, local, and federal agencies a complex of venues that can be used for the entire spectrum of training.
