Lake Walton Preserve Improvements

Dutchess County, New York

MJ is leading this effort for the largest expansion of the Dutchess County’s park system in decades. This project will enhance opportunities for recreation, tourism, and accessibility for users of all abilities to fish, hike, and simply enjoy this natural asset within Dutchess County. MJ completed survey and is now providing design for a new multi-use pathway connecting the Lake Walton Preserve to the adjacent William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail. MJ is also designing a universally accessible loop trail around Lake Walton, as well as access points, parking areas, interpretive materials and safety upgrades.

MJ completed survey and mobile mapping services to collect topographic survey data for the design improvements. Due to the dense wooded areas, MJ completed mobile mapping utilizing our ATV. Once the data was collected, MJ’s technicians developed a 3D web-based viewer for direct interaction with the scan data and photos from each scan.
