Cider Solar Farm

Genesee County, New York

MJ performed a boundary and topographic survey utilizing ground survey, aerial photogrammetry, and LiDAR to provide the existing conditions information for design of this large-scale green energy initiative.

Cider Solar Farm is a 500-megawatt photovoltaic solar energy generating facility under development by Hecate Energy in Genesee County, New York. The project will provide new, renewable energy to protect and preserve clean air, water quality and soil resources. Hecate Energy is a leading developer, owner, and operator of solar, wind, natural gas, and energy-storage projects. The project is a renewable source of energy that will assist New York State in meeting the goals of both the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and State Energy Plan, which includes obtaining 70% of the state’s energy consumption from renewable sources by 2030, and 100% of the state’s energy from clean sources by 2040.

The project is located on an approximately 3,000 acres and will include photovoltaic solar panels, inverters, buried electrical collection lines, gravel access roads, security fencing, and a substation. Construction is expected to commence in 2022, with commercial operation in 2023.
