County-Wide Parks & Recreation Master Plan
Dutchess County, New York
MJ is assisting Dutchess County in developing a county-wide Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The plan will act as a roadmap to ensure an appropriate balance of facilities and amenities throughout the County. MJ performed mobile mapping services to collect topographic survey data for six active parks within Dutchess County.
The Master Plan will include immediate and long-term plans with a specific emphasis on creating universal access at all facilities, buildings, playgrounds and trails. MJ is evaluating six existing parks, two rail trails and other open space recreational facilities and amenities to develop innovative strategies and recommendations to achieve the county’s vision. The plan will be used as a resource for future development and redevelopment of the county’s parks, open space and recreation system.
Public engagement is a critical component to the master planning process and includes public open houses, stakeholder meetings, an online survey, a walk and talk at Quiet Cover Park, pop-up tables, and tabling events at a Dutchess Stadium Renegades game and Bowdoin Park live concert.
