POSITION SUMMARY: 


MJ is actively seeking a senior water/wastewater engineer to join our team to assist with current and exciting future projects.  This job offering provides an exciting opportunity for the ideal candidate to grow and advance in MJ’s  water/wastewater and engineering practices. We are seeking a motivated candidate with a strong  interest in water/wastewater engineering that is well organized, resourceful, and creative. As a senior engineer, you will progress  design concepts through design development and work with the project team to produce construction  documents for a wide range of regional projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:


  • Work within a project team to support projects from initial project programming up to and through construction.

  • Prepare/review design calculations and specifications for a variety of projects, including utility pipelines, storage facilities, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.

  • Prepare project plans, including process, instrumentation/controls, site, and utility plans, to support project approvals and construction.

  • Prepare technical reports including engineering reports, utility master plans, capital improvement plans, condition assessments, and feasibility studies.

  • Conduct field investigations to assess site conditions, inspect facilities, and provide engineering support.

  • Participate in the construction administration support including project meetings, shop drawing reviews, reviewing / responding to RFIs, assisting in preparing project punch lists, completing periodic site inspections.

  • Mentoring of junior staff to share knowledge and experience.

  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project team members, including subconsultants and other disciplines (geotechnical engineers, survey/mapping, GIS, designers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and architects).

  • Assist with technical marketing during the procurement of key projects, including participation in presentations.



QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET- accredited college with 8+ years of experience in civil engineering and consulting with focus in municipal projects, including water and wastewater.

  • Professional Engineer Registration (P.E.) required

  • Understanding of State, Federal, and local regulations specific to water supply systems, sanitary sewers, and wastewater treatment.

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D as a design tool for the preparation of plans.

  • Understanding of hydraulic modeling (WaterGEMs, SewerGEMs or similar) is preferred.

  • Ability to work within multiple design teams and execute to meet demanding schedules.

  • Have excellent technical writing and communication skills.
