Construction Inspector

MJ is seeking a full-time construction inspector. A minimum of 5-10 years of construction experience is required. This position provides comprehensive construction inspection and engineering support for on-site construction projects at the Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton, New Jersey.


Objective: Provide construction support to field representatives. The following are anticipated job responsibilities and will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide onsite inspection to ensure construction work complies with all construction drawings, engineering standards, codes, specifications, design instructions, and quality standards.

  • Assure safety permits are acquired by contractor and displayed on job site.

  • Interpret data collected as part of standards tests to confirm materials used meet contract documents (compaction tests, concrete testing)

  • Interpret plans and specifications for the government and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.

  • Notify government of discrepancies found during inspections and ensures compliance.

  • Ensure approved drawings and their approved revisions are utilized in the field as issued by government.

  • Continually find solutions to conflicts between drawings, field conditions, and specifications by conferring with the government.

  • Prepare inspection daily reports determining status of construction progress, onsite labor utilization, and discrepancies and evidence of noncompliant work.

  • Track construction schedules and identify deficiencies to the government.

Requirements:

Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering/construction or the equivalent relevant years of experience in construction.

Working knowledge of ProCore construction management software preferred.

Work is performed mostly in field settings.

The work performed will be physical in nature, requiring the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • A valid, real ID driver’s license is required. Travel may be required.

  • Must be able to pass a NCIC background check for work on a federal facility.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
