Quality Assurance Construction Manager

A minimum of 5-7 years of construction experience is required. This full-time position provides leadership and comprehensive construction management / engineering support for on-site construction projects in NJ.  The assignment is twelve months in length with possible extension. 

OBJECTIVE: Provide QA/construction support to field representatives. Anticipated job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversight of inspectors and coordination and accountability of all projects, administrative and in-field responsibilities.

  • Notifies government of discrepancies found during inspections and ensures compliance.

  • Interpret plans and specifications for the government and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.

  • Prepare and track construction schedules and requests updates as schedule changes.

  • Implement change orders to project when required.

  • Review design drawings for constructability.

  • Review / prepare inspection reports, indicating discrepancies and evidence of noncompliance and determining states of construction progress.

  • Provide feedback and updates of pertinent day to day site conditions, deficiencies and site discussions with field representatives.

  • Implement change orders to project when required.

  • Coordinate and perform daily field site visits to verify that work is proceeding with contract documents and approved submittals.

  • Provides and reviews submittals, RFI logs, maintenance logs, and other project related materials in a timely manner.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction from an ABET- accredited college or relevant number of years’ experience.

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

  • A valid driver’s license is required. Travel may be required.   

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Construction Inspector

A minimum of 1-5 years of construction experience is required. This full-time position provides comprehensive construction inspection / engineering support for on-site construction projects in NJ.  The assignment is twelve months with possible extension.

OBJECTIVE: Provide construction support to the field representatives. Anticipated job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Generate SOW with customer for construction projects that do not include comprehensive design support.

  • Manage, review and/or distribute design drawings to reviewing agencies and construction/contract submittals (i.e. shop drawings)

  • Initiate and route DPW office correspondence for internal departmental review.

  • Generate (IGCE) Independent Government Cost Estimate for assigned construction project.

  • Initiate Request for Proposal (RFP)  to DPW prime contractor.

  • Negotiate with prime contractor to bring IGCE and proposal within 10%.

  • Initiate a 1095 request for funding document to IJO desk.

  • Create a PR in GFEBS when MIPR funding is in place.

  • Compile an award package with all necessary documents and submit to government procurement.

  • Send out Notice to Proceed (NTP) to construction contractor when project is awarded.

  • Make sure all contractors have access paperwork.

  • Assure safety permits are acquired by contractor and displayed on job site.

  • Initiate a pre-construction meeting with contractors, safety, and customer.

  • Inspect construction projects to confirm work performed by contractor(s) are in compliance with contract documents.

  • Interpret data collected as part of standards tests to confirm materials used meet contract documents (compaction tests, concrete testing)

  • Observe work to ensure that procedures are followed, and materials used conform to contract documents.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction from an ABET- accredited college or the equivalent relevant years of experience in construction.

  • Work is performed mostly in field settings.

  • Work will be physical in nature requiring the employee to stand; sit; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • A valid driver’s license is required. Travel may be required.

Civil/Site Engineer

Structural Engineer

ENGINEERING RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Work within a project team to support structural projects from initial project programming up to and through construction.

  • Analysis and design of building structures (reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, concrete masonry, wood and steel).

  • Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with project team members, including sub-consultants and other disciplines.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited college with 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.

  • Understanding of NYS building codes and regulations.

  • Technical knowledge in the use of AutoCAD.

  • Technical knowledge in BIM.

  • Ability to work with multiple design teams and meet demanding schedules. 

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Clifton Park, New York

ENGINEERING RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Work within multiple design teams to support civil design projects from initial project programming through construction.

  • Prepare project plans, including general plans, typical sections, grading and erosion control, drainage, utility, and signing and striping to support project approvals and construction.

  • Prepare technical reports including design reports, drainage reports, bid documents and cost estimating.

  • Complete field work including testing, inventory and inspections.

  • Participate in construction administration support including shop drawing review, reviewing/responding to RFIs, and periodic site inspections.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0 to 2 years of civil engineering experience, with focus in land development.

  • BS in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college.

  • Registration as an Intern Engineer in NY is preferred.

  • Understanding of NYSDOT regulations.

  • Proficient in CAD design tools for the preparation of plans and drawings. 

  • Ability to work within multiple design teams and meet demanding schedules.

Transportation Engineer

ENGINEERING RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Work within multiple design teams to support transportation projects from initial project programming through construction.

  • Prepare project plans, including general plans, typical sections, grading and erosion control, drainage, utility, and signing and striping to support project approvals and construction.

  • Prepare technical reports including design reports, drainage reports, bid documents and cost estimating.

  • Complete field work including testing, inventory and inspections.

  • Participate in construction administration support including shop drawing review, reviewing/responding to RFIs, and periodic site inspections.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering and consulting with focus in transportation

  • BS in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college.

  • Registration as an Intern Engineer in NY is preferred, eligibility for registration as a P.E. is desired.

  • Understanding of NYSDOT and NYSTA regulations.

  • Proficient in the use of MicroStation as a design tool for the preparation of plans/drawings.

  • Ability to work within multiple design teams and meet demanding schedules. 

Survey Field Technicians

SURVEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Field crew oversight and management

  • Utility and right of way record research

  • Construction stakeout

  • Boundary, topographic, transportation, and utility survey

  • 3D laser scanning and photogrammetric and mobile LiDAR control

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • No experience in land surveying required, will train the right candidate(s)

  • U.S. citizen with a valid driver’s license

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Highly motivated and detail oriented

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Punctual

  • Ability to multi-task and follow directions

  • General mathematics skills

  • Familiarity with the following helpful but not required: total stations, data collectors, GPS equipment, robotic instruments, use of static laser scanners (their operation and basic processing, MicroStation and/or  AutoCAD platforms, and general traverse reduction and computation

Survey AutoCAD Technician

AUTOCAD TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Boundary, topographic, and construction stakeout

  • Read, understand, and compute construction stakeout points

  • Conduct volume calculations

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in land surveying and civil/site work, including research, computations, field experience in boundary, topographic, and construction stakeout, total stations, and data collections

  • Associates degree required

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation

  • Experience with surveying transportation, municipal and/or state highway, bridge, steel erection, residential stakeout, and railroad projects

  • Ability to work within multiple design teams and  meet demanding schedules

  • Willing to work overtime

Survey Field Technician

 PROJECTS WITHIN THIS POSITION WILL INCLUDE:

  • Utility and right of way record research

  • Boundary survey

  • Topographic survey
