Structural Design

MJ performed "hands-on" inspection, survey and design engineering to develop plans, specifications and estimate for the rehabilitation and / or replacement of five (5) structures within the scenic railway system running between the Villages of Corinth and North Creek. The structural work for the five structures included bridge deck replacements on two short span structures, a superstructure rehabilitation with bearing replacement and repairs to the existing stone and concrete abutments on a 60 ft. single span bridge, a precast concrete culvert replacement utilizing existing culvert stones for new headwalls on a 40 ft. long culvert; and, abutment repairs, bearing restoration and scour protection for a 55 ft. single span, four girder superstructure.

The railroad corridor is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.  To ensure that there was no adverse effect upon any eligible cultural resource, MJ designed and specified all replacements of materials to match their historic counterparts in visual quality, dimensions and in finish.
